Just so people understand why this is a problem:  points in a morphing
object travel in straight lines between their initial and final posi-
tions--they won't travel in an arc, which is what's wanted here--while
an animated clip map can be tedious to make and has limitations--if the
wedge is an extrusion, you can't bevel the corners and you can't show
the clipped side.

This would be a good application for an object replacement plug-in.
